A lot of parts of Dutch history have been left out of our history books. One of these stories is the the sinking of Slaveship Leusden in 1738. A ship that drowned on the coast of Suriname. While the ship was sinking the crew decided to lock all the 664 enslaved people on the ship in the cabines. While they them selves survived and waited on top of the ship. At that time it was described as an economic disaster. While it actually was a mass murder. With this serie of works I tried to zoom in on the emotions of the enslaved people on the ship and bring these stories closer to peoples attention. So that the lives of these 664 people will not be forgotten.
